Economist

As a ColdAxom Economist you will combine creative thinking with deep analytical expertise to distil complex economic issues into evidence-based business strategies, driving lasting, impactful change in world-leading companies.

Job description

You will have been awarded your doctorate in Economics and have established a research profile appropriate to your career stage. You will leverage your deep knowledge of economic theory and mathematics/statistics/econometrics/modelling to investigate counter-factuals across any of the three areas, depending on your research specialism and desired career progression:

 

  1. Microeconomic Issues – assigned to specific business problems across our consulting portfolio to lead, for example, novel and complex pricing, product and market design issues
  2.  

  3. Corporate Strategy – manage teams conducting, for example, economic impact studies, investment development analysis, competitor analysis, scoping studies, behavioral and experimental studies to work etc.
  4.  

  5. Public Policy – leading the analysis around issues such as intellectual property, privacy, data security, direct legal and regulatory challenges, antitrust and competition policies etc. to provide objective advice to our clients that is clearly expressed

 

You will use your first-class communication skills and ability to build relationships to make your findings convincing from first principles to colleagues from multidisciplinary backgrounds, indeed, our consultants will look to learn from you. You will be encouraged to continue your engagement with the academy, working to disseminate your research findings and creating opportunities for expert collaboration.

 

Our Economists are expected to contribute to the development of junior team members through supporting wider company events, training and workshops. In return, ColdAxom will provide you with an intellectually stimulating work environment underpinned by the opportunity to work creatively across micro and macroeconomic problems, receiving close mentorship from senior partners along the way.

What we need

  • A PhD in Economics (with a focus on microeconomics, industrial/organizational economics, monetary/financial economics, labor/demographic economics, public finance or econometrics)
  • A research profile appropriate to career stage (cultivated through presenting conference papers, peer-reviewed publications, public engagement activities, policy work)
  • A preparedness to continue to disseminate research and analysis internally through white papers, and externally through leading high impact journals
  • Demonstrable experience of effective leadership
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to express complex ideas effectively to different audiences (industry, academy, stakeholders)
  • A team player, able to collaborate with people at all levels of an organization
